Pre-Surgery Begins
Before 8:00 Monday morning, the phone rang. It was Dr. Doogie! He’d see me at 3:00. Yay!
Fed and walked, us three musketeers headed off for Dr. Colon Surgeon’s office. While he’s quite experienced with doing colon resections laparoscopically (small incisions and inserting a tiny camera inside your body), he needs to do an “open” surgery because of [...]

Minutia
I had mistakenly thought that when doctor’s offices were closed for the weekend, the phone calls would stop. Wrong! Let’s see . . . Thursday evening, the hospital called to pre-register Lew for Tuesday’s PET scan. We had been to the Matthews branch hospital . . . how many times in the past few weeks? [...]

I don’t know, Marty. What do you think it is?
By 3:15 this afternoon, I had come up with enough excuses to call the surgeon’s office and ask about the CAT scan results (They forgot . . . They left for the weekend . . .). Ah, they were in! The doc was with a patient. His assistant thought the report was there but hadn’t [...]

The Diagnosis
Dear Family and Friends,
The following is from my online journal. I doubt I’ll be sending out another newsletter for a while. So, if you’d like to check up on us . . . http://www.ridemaps.com/myblog
From October 4:
The day after the bike ride, Lew saw a gastroenterologist in the morning and a urologist in the afternoon. He [...]

The CAT Scan
We have discovered the cure for apnea! Guilt! Lew is sleeping, snoring, and breathing all night long! I’m serious. Ever since he read my blog about how I felt with the silences at night, his apnea has disappeared. Now, if I can just get a patent on it . . .
Poor Marley. Three times in [...]
