THE Question
Is Dr. Kidney-Prostate being overly optimistic? “If we can keep you alive for five years, we’ll probably have a better treatment by then.”
Is Dr. Colonoscopy being excessively pessimistic? Its cruel to continue preventative procedures — kinder to just wait for problems to treat.
Is either of them really realistic? Can’t imagine why we wouldn’t want to [...]

Blown Up!
Lew got blown up again today. It took a lot longer this time. Dr. Colonoscopy had to use several balloons to stretch Lew to a size he could pass the scope through. And he made a bloody mess!
We really like the unknown surgery center. It strikes us as small and intimate. But I’m not sure [...]

The Hospital Responds
Remember back in March when Lew had a lymph node biopsied and I had a set to with the recovery room nurses? The post I wrote at the time is at http://www.ridemaps.com/myblog/?p=224. I wrote the hospital and complained. Their response arrived via snail mail today.

Fired!
Lew got fired today. Human Resources called and said he had run out of sick leave. Unless he came back right away . . . He is welcome to go back whenever he’s ready.
I offered to take him to the store today. He could stand around for twenty minutes and then we’d come home. He’s [...]

At Dr. Eye’s
This was a planned follow-up visit — nothing urgent about it.
Lew’s eye is healing. Its slow, but encouraging. The allergic reaction is under control. Lew can stop the antihistamine drops when he’s comfortable without them. His iris is almost round when it dilates. There’s just a small portion that hasn’t responded yet. His eye is [...]
