The day after surgery in Intermediate Care. Lew’s right kidney was removed because of a golf ball size Kidney Cancer growth. His left bowel was resected to remove a Colon Cancer mass. |

Due to the infection, Lew had to be partly opened up again. Six staples were removed. The opening stays packed with wet gauze. Outside the opening, he’s covered with dry gauze to wick the collecting fluid out of the opening. |

December 25, 26 and 27, 2006. Looking closely, you can see the wound is starting to close. Not to worry — that growing red dot on the left is a pimple. And, yes, that thing just opposite it is Lew’s belly button.

December 28, 29 and 30, 2006. I’m dying of curiosity as to what that horizontal thing is in the middle of the opening. If you know, please let me know.
